About Gloria
Actress. Singer. Author. Storyteller.
Gloria Reuben is a Canadian-American actress, singer, and author whose career spans four decades across television, film, theater, and music. Born on June 9, 1964, in Toronto, Ontario, she trained at the Royal Conservatory of Music, studying piano, ballet, and jazz — a foundation that would inform her lifelong artistry across multiple disciplines.
Reuben first captured widespread attention as Jeanie Boulet, an HIV-positive physician assistant on NBC's hit series ER, a role that earned her two Emmy nominations and a Golden Globe nomination. Her work on screen has since ranged from portraying Elizabeth Keckly opposite Daniel Day-Lewis in Steven Spielberg's Lincoln to playing therapist Dr. Krista Gordon in all four seasons of Mr. Robot. On stage, her portrayal of Condoleezza Rice in Stuff Happens at the Public Theater earned her the Lucille Lortel Award for Outstanding Lead Actress.
Gloria left ER in 2000 to join Tina Turner on her “24/7” tour as a backup singer. She continued her music career after the tour, releasing two jazz albums. You can find her music on Apple Music, Spotify, Amazon, and YouTube. Gloria still performs in premier venues in New York City.
On the page, Reuben writes plays and non-fiction. Her 2019 memoir, My Brothers' Keeper, tells the story of her two brothers and how they shaped her life.
Gloria is a passionate advocate for women’s health, especially breaking the stigma around menopause. She’s currently a spokesperson for Veozah, the top prescribed hormone-free, FDA-approved treatment for moderate to severe hot flashes due to menopause. She also cares deeply about climate change and our environment, having worked closely with the Climate Reality Project and Waterkeeper’s Alliance in the past.
You can currently see Gloria in the CBS series Boston Blue alongside Donnie Wahlberg and Sonequa Martin-Green.
She lives in New York City.
